Let the Fear Mongering begin!

So President Obama spoke at George Mason University (Go Patriots!) today predicting things will only get worse if the Government doesn’t pump 800 Billion into our economy.  To put in how much a billion is, go here.

While I don’t doubt that President Obama wants what is best for America, I feel this solution is very short-sited.  Much like the bailouts of the auto industry.  I feel it would be best if he would take heed to the problems facing Medicare and Social Security, which judging by this he recognizes.

I believe our government should be finding ways to help Americans help themselves.  We are a country of hard working and independent people.  Making future generations pay for mistakes now and in the past just perpetuates the problem.

If he really wants to help our country he should give Americans the opportunity to chose what they do with their money.  I firmly believe I’m a better advocate of where my money should be spent and how to best benefit me and my family over the government choosing for us.  We are all looking for opportunities to better our current situation and by putting more money back in each American’s pockets people will spend which will stimulate the economy, but they will save which will loosen the grip on the current credit crunch.
